Hello Hello!, todays random platypus is here to tell you that I have 1000000000 ant bites through out my entire body :( and it itches like hell! I think I still have some ants walking here and there. However I don't care.. all the jokes from yesterday are worth it.
*****Random Platypus *****
So, the rehearsal of this Saturday was yet another one which neither me or Star had a thing to do, and therefor what is important is to tell you about what we did on the Saturday Afternoon. The whole Drama Club came to my place at around 6.30 and we went to the "cuarto festival ucsur de teatro internacional" in the u. of San Marcos, we arrived like 3 hours early. When we finally entered to the theatre, I was excited. The play we went to watch was called Dominicanish, 60'-Ayombe, R.D.
****WARNING SPANGLISH IS GOING TO BE USED****** (when i'm criticando, I can't WRITE the exact word I'm looking for)
Good Aspects of the play
1) Lighting: the lighting on this play was great. It started with an orange sunsetish background with a siluette of the actriz in contraluz. That was very effective because all the soft, femenine movements made by her were sort of enhanced. Then there were other 10 types of light, the main light wich iluminaba todo el escenario, the square one in the middle, the two round ones behind and enfron of the square one, the spotlight, the one at the left and so on. Most of the lights were very strong and without color, that is YELLOW LIGHT, and because it came from the top, the face of the actress was sort of hidden, however that was cool. That was catchy for the audience. Therefore, variety of lights are very effective for a play.
2) Oppositions and Column: SHE WAS THE QUEEN OF OPPOSITIONS, and the way she acomplished that was by using the Indu Dance, just because the nature in this danec is oppositions it
make it easier for her. However, what on earth that the oppositions had to do with the actual play!? Then she also used her column well, but the best part was when she stayed on a MatriX sort of possition, she stayed arched back for like 1 minute which is very very very veyr vye very very veyr very very very vye (jejejejejje) hard. She must be very strong in order to be able to do that.
Tone of Voice: She spoke with a very good tone of voice, I could hear her always, however, sometimes I couldn't understand her. She also played with the pitchs of ther voice, high pitch, low pitch, normal pitch. The accent she used was good also, she used Boricuan accent, US accent, and neutral accent. Gives variety to the Play.
Jokes: the use of jokes capture the atencion of the audience at the beginning, however it was waaaaaaaaaaay to exploted. A joke now and then is ok, but through out the play THE SAME JOKE!? come on! please.
BAD THINGS...prepare..this is along one...
1) First thing i Hate the most about this play, VIDEO, come on! was it really really a need?! In my opinion the video was there just to confuse the audience, you don't have 4 eyes to watch the video while watching the actriz, so ....I was distracted by the video, whcih was about some MOCHILAS DE VIAJE...w.t.f?
2) Theme: I understand the main proposito of this play, to let the audience know about How the Dominicans had to learn english in order to be accepted by the society. However! it was not ...really..clear. So, on stage there was this woman "dancing" while saying some random words about english and her teachers...and nothing else. more than 20 minutes watching her do the same thing. The play didn't move, it just suggested an idea...which was repeated on and on and on for a very long time. If the idea was to portray something about acceptance of society, then why not act that! The play had no plot and therefor, no climax and no ending, which is one of the common way to make a play flow. Another character would be also useful, in order to portray the idea of society, maybe she was bitten when child because she didn't speak englihs or something and then what happened next, when she arrived to society, and so on. That would be a more interesting proposition. I think this was more of a performance, were she suggested something and thats it. And some pruevas de qeu no sirbe?..well..in the middle of the play, people just stood up and went home. BORING.....
3)Sometimes I couldn't understand a word she was saying.
4) she kept repeating the same thing over adn over again" BOY, GIRL SHE LOVES YOU, SHE DOES, DOESN't" which was effective at the first time, and the second time an "OH WELL" but the third one was a PLEASE STOP!.
What I learned form Dominicanish?
PLAYS NEED TO MOVE ON FROM ONE IDEA, IF IT STAYS WITH THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, THE PLAY DIES, this is; you suggest something, develop it, if you made yourself clear, NEXT IDEA, and so on.. )LIGHTS are very important for a play, and oppositions are on of the best alternatives in order to catch the attention of the audience. I think it would be interesting if we open the play of the superheroes with the siluette thing and the backround of a light blue color! that would be awesome! Are we going to be able to MOVE ON adn entertain the audience in the play for next year!?

a good review - don't forget: first, you try to make sense of the play, and only then can you thrash it as much as you want, which is basically what you did, so well done
